What Goes Wrong With Cards
Cards fail in small ways most of the time. A card pulled out while the camera was still writing. A battery that died mid-shot. A card moved between a camera and a phone that each wanted it their own way. The pictures are written in one place and the list of pictures in another. Usually only the list is hurt.
From Card Reader To Safe Copy
- Put the card in a card reader and open DRE Pro. It appears under External Drives.
- Choose Deep Scan, or a RAW Scan with Photos and Videos ticked.
- Watch the photos appear. RAW files such as CR2 and NEF are found too.
- Damaged photos and videos are repaired while the scan runs. Open each one to check.
- Save everything to the computer's drive, then copy it to a second place before you format the card.
Wedding Tomorrow, Card Dead Today?
Start the scan tonight. A big card takes time and a Deep Scan can be paused and resumed, so you can stop it in the morning and finish it after the shoot. See every photo before you pay anything.
When It Will Not Come Back
We would rather tell you now than after you have paid.
- New photos were taken on the card after the problem. Each new shot can land on an old one.
- The card is cracked or the reader cannot see it at all.
- The photos were on a phone's own internal memory. DRE Pro works on drives and cards a Windows computer can read.
