Pause A Scan, Resume It Tomorrow

2 Min ReadLong scans do not have to hold your computer hostage.

A Deep Scan of a 2 TB disk is not a coffee-break job. You may need the computer for work, the office may close or the power may go. None of that throws the scan away.

How It Works

Every scan becomes a Saved Scan. Stop a scan and the session is kept with what was already found and the repairs already made. Shut the computer down if you need to. When you come back, open Saved Scans and press Resume on that session. It carries on from where it stopped.

A session that finished is kept too. Press View to open its files again and save more of them, with no new scan.

A Drive That Drops Out

External disks and pen drives sometimes disconnect for a second because of a loose cable or a tired port. DRE Pro waits for the drive to come back and continues the scan, so one wobble does not cost you the night's work.

Tips For Very Long Scans

  • Plug a laptop into power and turn sleep off for the night.
  • Use a port at the back of a desktop, not the front panel or a hub.
  • Check Drive Health before a long scan. A weak drive should be imaged first.
