Read Your Drive's Health
Most drives keep a report on their own condition. DRE Pro reads that report and turns it into one number and a word: a health percentage and Healthy, Warning or Failing. You will see the number on every drive in the list.
What You See
Some drives do not report every value. When one is missing, DRE Pro says Not Available instead of guessing.
- Health percentage and status, from the drive's own report.
- Temperature and power-on time, in hours and days.
- Power cycles, data written and wear level where the drive reports them.
- Whether TRIM is enabled on an SSD.
- The S.M.A.R.T. values read and whether they are normal.
- A read test that confirms the drive can actually be read.
When To Worry
Healthy at a high percentage: scan as normal. Warning: the drive itself says something is wearing out. Failing: it may stop reading at any time.
On Warning or Failing, do not run scan after scan on it. Use Create Disk Image to copy it once to a healthy drive, then scan the image. The app gives the same advice on this screen.
Use It Before Trouble
Open Drive Health once a month. A number that drops from 100% to 92% to 85% is a drive asking for a backup. That warning is free.
